creation-04-2Many people have questions about the origins of our world. What was the beginning of the cosmos like? Where did everything come from? Was there someone who made this world and the people who live in it? Of was it all coincidence?
These questions are clearly important. The answers one gives also decide how one thinks about oneself and others, and about the world in which one lives. See what the Bible says about this.

How did the cosmos originate? God created it! In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1).

Where did the first man and woman come from? God created them. God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1: 27).

Which responsibilities did God give them? God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Genesis 1:28).

What did the world look like when God was done with his work of creation? Everything was very good. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. (Genesis 1: 31a).

What does it matter whether the world was created by God or came into existence by coincidence? The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. (Psalm 24:1-2).

In what relation to his creation does God stand? The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (Psalm 145:8-9).

What attitude should we have towards God as our Creator? Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6: 5).
